Blogging out of boredom

My room. It's not a cave anymore!

The Plaza de Armas in Pambarumbe. My house is pretty much directly behind the statue and up the hill.

This is right above the Plaza de Armas. The kids built goals out of bamboo about a month ago to play soccer in the street. My house is to the left of this picture and up another hill.

The municipality of Pambarumbe. I didn't get a picture of the bug (read on), but this is where I saw it.

So, I came into Piura today because we have to leave for Reconnect on Sunday. I had a few things to do today in the city so figured I'd give myself an extra day to take care of it all. No one is here, as usual and I'm bored. So, I decided I'd blog!

Yesterday, I saw a bug that looked like a leaf in Pambarumbe. I was waiting by the municipality so that I could buy my ticket for the bus this madrugada (early morning hours, a work which does not exist in English). It looked like a standard green leaf, but it had legs and antenna and it was awesome. I didn't have my camera with me so I didn't get a picture of it. Hopefully I'll see another one later.

Lately, in Pambarumbe, I've been playing mass volleyball. It's really intense and a ton of fun. There are a few people in my site who are really good and it gets really competitive. Yesterday, the first game ended at 24-25. They don't do the whole you have to win by two rule which we have in the states. The next game was 28-28. Which, resulted in my team losing. How we got 28 without the 2 over rule is beyond me and how a tie equals a win for one team and loss for the other also didn't make sense. But it was fun playing, anyway.

I'm spending next week at the beach with my group doing some meetings. I just got an E-mail saying we are going to have language interviews and now I'm going to be freaking out because I don't think I've improved that much. I can speak more, I think...I wish they would have told us a few weeks ago and I would have studied more...boo!

I skyped with Lindsey today. The world is crazy. She lives in Turkey and I live in Peru and we were able to talk...the Internet is awesome? haha. Fun quote of the skype conversation (not quote but more or less)

Me: Yesterday, for dinner I had 5 sweet potatoes and some cheese.
Lindsey: Five Sweet Potatoes! That's how many I planned on making for Thanksgiving for all my friends.

Thanksgiving will be weird. For one, it's hot in Peru. For two, there really isn't Turkey in Peru. No Stuffing, Bread, Honey Butter, or family. Weird. It'll be fun though. Hopefully bonfires on the beach :)
