Life...

So, I realized I never really posted my address:

PCT Glenn Stanley / Cuerpo de Paz Calle
Los Cedros 647

Chaclacayo, Lima 8, Peru

I'll be here at the center for another month. Then, I'm moving to another department in Peru. I also realized that I will have lived in more departments (basically states) in Peru than I have in the US...Just a funny thought. I find out where I'm moving next Friday and then I'm traveling there all the following week.

It's exciting, in less than one month, I will be moved to a new home and I can't wait. All signs point to a little rural village without internet and phone. I am really looking forward to finding out if that's officially where I'm heading though!

July 28th is Peruvian Independence Day. What this means is that they have parades everyday and the kids don't have school. They have a two weeks holiday which starts today (or tomorrow?). We don't have classes on Monday because of the holiday and then we are off Tuesday morning. I think this is for recuperation, haha. Everything is well here in Peru, last night was Zach's birthday party, which meant a trip into Yanacoto. It was a good time, learned some awesome new salsa moves.

The pictures at the top, the first one is a pictures of Jason, Alex and I biting into some cuy (guinea pig) which we ate one night for dinner. The second pictures is again of me, Jason and Alex playing air guitar one night out on the town in Huaraz (the capital of Ancash, where I went for Field Based Training). The final pictures is the "stage" Kat and I constructed for a puppet show that we put on for some kiddos during a Feria de Autoestima (I don't think these exist in English/the States, but it's basically a Fair of Self Esteem). We put on a play 6 times and it was a lot of fun. That was also during Field Based Training.

Since returning from Field Based Training, I got to eat some S'mores. It was Nate and Milene's host mom's birthday on Sunday and they had a fire pit and S'mores. It was awesome. I've had lots of Spanish classes, a few youth development classes and then today, we ventured to a parade which was actually only two blocks from the training center. This week is almost done and I'm excited. I feel like I need the weekend. I've been swamped with work, and still have tons of projects to do. I nice break will be amazing. Then, I have next week full of Spanish, Health, and Youth Development classes and then Friday we learn where we are all moving to. then I think on Sunday, we leave to head to our sites. I'm crossing my fingers that my hunch holds true and I get the site I want!

Anyway, all is well here. I hope all is well in the states.

Glenny--I see that you posted a new mailing address. I assume that that is of your host family. I am sending a new package tomorrow to the original address you gave me because that is where the other package was safely delivered to. Your perscription sunglasses will be in the package.

Hugs and much love,
mom
